Whale shark feeding

Why is Whale shark snorkelling highly regulated in La Paz?

Whale Sharks have roamed our oceans for 60 million years, now with their conservation status – Endangered – EVERY shark matters.

Our sharks come here only to feed in the rich waters, the regulations have evolved to ensure that our activity does not restrict their behaviours to ensure they are uninterupted and keep returning to La Paz.

How does this effect your tour?

The number of boats within the feeding zone are controlled, we have 2 hours to enjoy the sharks.

Only 5 snorkelers are permitted in the water at one time with 1 certified guide.

The speed of the boats are monitored and restricted to ensure we don’t run into them, as they typically feed close to the surface.

Whale Shark Snorkel Tour – Cabo

Join us on a private snorkel tour from Cabo San Lucas and meet the majestic whale shark (Rhincodon typus) up close. As the only tour company in Cabo with certified guides — and over 12 years of experience — we guarantee a safe, exciting, and unforgettable adventure.

We only operate private tours so we can focus on your once-in-a-lifetime experience with this ocean giant. To protect the sharks, this activity is highly regulated; more about this on the left.

Watch these graceful giants glide effortlessly through the water, filtering thousands of gallons in search of plankton. Juvenile whale sharks visiting La Paz usually measure between 15 and 30 feet (5–10 meters) long — and snorkeling beside them is simply awe-inspiring.

Season: Mid-November to late April, depending on plankton blooms.

Your expert guide will share fascinating insights into whale shark behavior, migration, conservation, and the research projects designed to protect them for the future.

Whether you’re ready to snorkel alongside these giants or prefer to watch from the boat, this adventure is open to everyone.

For an even bigger day on the ocean, you can combine snorkeling with whales sharks and sealions in La Paz — a full day of unforgettable marine encounters.

So why choose a private tour vs a shared tour?

Shared tours can have upto 20 snorkelers on board, thus, you have very little time in the water with the sharks.

On Private tours we can focus on your experiance with the sharks.  For many it is a once-in-a-lifetime experiance so we can maximise your time with the sharks, plus some are a little nervous about snokelling with the largest shark in the world!
